PATRICK KANE HOMECOMING AND MORE

In one of the most emotional homecoming's in sports history, Patrick Kane made his inevitable return to the United Center as the Blackhawks took on the Red Wings, Sunday night. The final week of the NCAA regular season is upon us and MLB spring training has started. The crossover of sporting seasons has begun and therefore, we will have a lot to discuss in following blogs!

PATRICK KANE HOMECOMING

You can never say that Chicago doesn't love Patrick Kane. In his return back to the United Center, fans embraced Kaner like he never left. It was an emotional night for Blackhawks fans as they honored Chris Chelios prior to the game and during the first media timeout, shared a heartfelt tribute video. Fans remained on their feet for a 7-minute standing ovation for the man who changed the face of hockey in the city of Chicago. I brought tears to my eyes watching the recognition to my all time favorite player.

The game itself was written like poetry for a Patrick Kane homecoming, as both teams were tied after regulation play- sending them into OT. And in true Patrick Kane fashion, he was passed the puck by former Blackhawk teammate, Alex DeBrincat, to score on a breakaway shot- in which Chicago fans have seen a time or two. In true Chicago fashion, everyone wants to see the Blackhawks win in the United Center but after Patrick Kane scored the GWG- the United Center errupted and did a final curtain call to the fans.

As a Chicago Blackhawk super fan, it is hard watching him in any other uniform especially a Detroit sweater but his homecoming has warmed my heart and shown that he will retire a Blackhawk.

OTHER SPORTING NEWS:

- Bradley University basketball played their interstate rivals in Illinois State to combine for the second lowest score in NCAA this season and take a win, 48-45.

- The MLB training camp season has begun. The Dodgers started off the slate by routing the Padres, 14-1. This is a look at the powerhouse that the Dodgers created during the offseason, and I am excited to see how successful they are.

- The Cubs signed Cody Bellinger to a 3 year, $80 million contract right as spring training has began. Cubs fans are thrilled to see Bellinger back in a Cubs uniform after being tipped off that he was signing somewhere else during the past offseason.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

Do you think that Patrick Kane will retire a Blackhawk? Why or why not?

Comments

  1. The ISU/BU score was crazy. That's how it's always been in the Valley, though, and those two teams live up to the rep.
