SOUTH CAROLINA & UCONN REIGN SUPREME, NHL REGULAR SEASON CLOSING OUT & MORE

After one of the most highly anticipated March Madness tournaments in the history of its existence, South Carolina of the Women's and UConn of the Men's were able to remain victorious throughout the tournament. In addition to that, the NHL is wrapping up the regular season and looking towards the Stanley Cup finals as the wild card team look for every point possible. The MLB season is also underway with the regular season.

MARCH MADNESS

On the men's side of March Madness, the overall No. 1 seed in the UConn Huskies took home the NCAA title. In a back and forth game the Huskies were able to separate themselves from the Purdue Boilermakers to win back-to-back March Madness titles for the first time since Florida in 2006-07. UConn dominated the entire season having a record of 37-3, while routing Purdue 75-60.

On the other side of the bracket challenge, South Carolina finished their season perfectly as they beat the Iowa Hawkeyes and Caitlin Clark. The final score of the game was 87-75, where the Gamecocks were able to separate themselves late in the game to get their third national championship in school history. This game became the most viewed basketball game in the past five years, men's or women's, professional or college with a viewing average of 18.7 million viewers, peaking at 24 million.

OTHER SPORTING NEWS
- The NHL has 10 days left of the regular season and teams are fighting to make it to the playoffs. Unfortunately, my Blackhawks were eliminated a while ago, but teams such as the Red Wings, Penguins, Capitals, Predators, Golden Knights, and many more are finding every point very important within these next 10 days. As a HUGE Patrick Kane fan, I would LOVE to see the Red Wings make it and watch playoff Showtime come into play but I guess we will have to see how these next few days pan out.

- In Valley news, Josh Schertz of Indiana State announced that he will be taking a position at SLU and will not be back as the Head Coach of the Sycamores. In the following days, Robbie Avila, Julian Larry, and Ryan Cronwell have entered the portal. The Braves are looking like an early favorite to win the Valley next year.

- The MLB also has commenced their regular season with their first two weeks of play, the Cubs surprisingly swept the early World Series favorites, the Dodgers. But were then followed by losing a 8-0 lead to the San Francisco Padres.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

What player in the transfer portal are you most interested to see where they land?

My answer: Connor Hickman

Comments

  1. I want to acknowledge the remarkable season that women's basketball had this year. They've broken many records and brought on many fans along the way. I couldn't have been happier with all the recognition that they're finally receiving. I feel like it would only continue to grow from here. There are definitely a lot of people in the transfer portal (a lot of them are my teammates) but I am most definitely excited to see where Connor Hickman takes his talents.
